FORESEA opens new call for support bids
A second call for funding support applications for wave and tidal projects is now open.
The FORESEA (Funding Ocean Renewable Energy through Strategic European Action) Programme underpins the commercialisation of marine energy technologies by providing free access to a network of world leading test sites.
These are the European Marine Energy Centre in Orkney, SEM-REV in France, SmartBay in Ireland) and Stitchting Tidal Testing Centre in the Netherlands.
The €11m project will help to bring offshore renewable energy technologies to market, with 10 technology developers ‘Recommended for Support’ following the first call for applications.
The second call was formally launched by EMEC managing director Neil Kermode at a reception held during the Ocean Energy Europe 2016 Conference.
Speaking at the reception, Mr Kermode said: “With 10 technologies recommended for support, it’s fair to say that the FORESEA programme is off to a tremendous start, and we are really looking forward to welcoming some of these developers to EMEC in the coming months.
“To continue this momentum, I am pleased to announce that the second call for applications is now open.”
